MY SPIRITUAL STATEMENT AS A THERAPIST
As a believer in Jesus Christ, it is important for me to let you know that you will be respected and treated as a whole person, no matter what your belief system is. Christians believe that the gift of Grace they have been freely given is not to be kept for themselves only. This is not a suggestion for us but a directive from God (Matthew 28: 18-20.) Please always feel invited into this free gift at any time. It would be an honor for me to share this.
Having said this, I have been on the other end of uncomfortable pressure and harassment and I do not believe anyone comes to true belief under duress or obligation. Further, I believe that God is simply bigger than this. I am a vessel for Him, and not the other way around. You are coming to me for therapy and I get this. Your communicated boundaries will be respected. It is imperative to me that you feel safe in the counseling space I offer. You will not be judged or discriminated against no matter your faith, skin color, culture or sexual orientation. I do have two limitations, one that I hope to someday change, and one of which is simply practical: My office is on the second floor of an older building and therefore I have no options to offer handicapped accessibility at this time. Secondly, my counseling practice is geared toward women simply because this is the population my skill-set is strongest in helping. I will, however; counsel other people in her family along with the identified female client, as in marital and family counseling. |
