Hello, and welcome to "Journey Counseling for Women." My name is Kirsten Smith, LPCC and I have been a practicing licensed counselor in Ohio for almost twenty years. Clients tell me they receive warm, healing, non-judgmental and empathic treatment in my office; a focus on workable solutions; and a personally-tailored treatment plan. Clients also tell me they feel more empowered to manage their lives after the counseling process. What is "Walk and Talk?"

The hypothesis is that rhythmic exercise, such as walking, can be conducive to the process of self-discovery. Hays cites three key reasons for combining exercise and therapy:

It encourages a patient to be more physically active for mental and physical reasons.
It helps a patient get "unstuck" when confronting difficult issues.
It spurs creative, deeper ways of thinking often released by mood-improving physical activity.

"Some patients may become anxious when confronting something difficult in a traditional seated, face-to-face interaction," she says. "Walking in parallel with visual distractions may allow for easier engagement."

In addition to simply walking and talking, the outdoors is the perfect place to learn about breathing properly and how to use Mindfulness to bring greater wellness. People who struggle with anxiety, depression, as well as other forms of mental illness and emotional imbalance, often report positive results with these interventions.

Counseling Fees:
Initial (intake) Session: $175.00
Regular Sessions: $110.00
Phone Consult: $125.00/hour (first fifteen minutes is free)
"Walk and Talk": $110.00
90-minute Session: $165.00
120-minute session: $220.00
No-show/Late-cancel fee: $55.00
(After two times: full session price)
*I always carry a small set of clients on reduced fee, per their need, so if you are experiencing financial hardship, please ask when my next availability for this is.

Payment is due at the beginning of each session. I OPERATE OUT-OF-NETWORK, BUT WILL SEND IN THE STATEMENT OF YOUR PAYMENT TO YOUR INSURANCE PLAN FOR REIMBURSEMENT, IF YOU'D LIKE. It is advisable that you call your insurance company to ask what your out-of-network benefits are. Please bring your insurance card, and check, cash, HSA card, or credit card to your first session.

EVERY CLIENT can choose a one-time gifted session, anytime after their 8th session.
